Nature Bookmarks

A DIY Project for all you book readers who love nature!

Laminated pressed flower book marks

When my niece and nephew were visiting this summer we went on a few walks through the woods.  While we were out enjoying nature, I made sure to pick up a few souvenirs of pretty leaves and wild flowers.  I pressed these along with other specimens from my own yard in my flower press.  After only a few days I was able to use my treasures to make this week's fun Bookmark DIY!

Here's what you need to make your own:

-pressed petals and leaves (use a big old book if you don't have a press)
-self adhesive laminating sheets
-straight edge, craft knife, cutting mat
-optional: brayer

Steps:
1) You can get self adhesive laminating sheets in large 8.5" X 11" sheets (I got mine at the dollar store!).  Just one of your sheets up into bookmark size strips by simply cutting across the width.

2) Open the sheet out, lay out your pressings in whatever design you like.  This side isn't sticky, so you can move things around until you like what you see.

3) Just peel the backing off the other side (this side is sticky!) and lay it down over your design.

4) and press down!  If you have a brayer this is a great time to get it out, but if not, just use your fingers and press around all the edges to make sure everything's sealed in tightly.

That's it!  You're done!  So easy and so pretty!

Don't live near nature?? (poor you!) Head over to a floral shop and ask for some of their waste cuttings.  Make these even prettier with some lovely tassels.  How will you personalize yours?  Leave a comment below~
